Saturday Car Shows Support Area Charities

Sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s should provide a good backdrop for a couple of different car shows in the area this weekend.

First, the Shriner Nomads Car Club and the Oakdale Shrine Club are joining forces to host a show on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Modesto Masonic Center, 800 Rose Ave., Modesto.

Open to all years of cars, proceeds from the event support the Shriners Children’s Hospital for Northern California in Sacramento.

At the event, there will be trophies, prizes and drawings throughout the day. Contact Bob Huntley, 2300 Nystrom Ave., Modesto, CA 95355 for more information or to pre-register for the show. Registration fee is $30.

The same day, but in a different location, the Hot Rod & Motorcycle Show will be hosted at the 50s Roadhouse in Knights Ferry, 18341 Kennedy Road. That show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and benefits local veterans through the Ride2Recovery and Project HERO programs. Bring your hot rod or motorcycle and hang out for the day; first 175 paid entries receive a T-shirt; all entries get dash plaques. Entry fee is $30. There will be prize drawings and a 50-50 raffle along with great music, food and fun. Pre-registration forms are available at the 50s Roadhouse or by contacting Duke Cooper at 209-652-7627 or at DCooperracing@gmail.com.
