Join the family fun with the Second Annual Color Run at Jacob Myers Park. Participants can check in for the run at 8 a.m. at the Gazebo on Saturday, April 30 and then the run will start at 8:30 a.m. All the people participating in the run will be wearing white shirts and volunteers will be awaiting their arrival with a handful of colored powder to splatter them with as they walk or run down the trail at the park. The powder is safe, non-toxic, washable and is made of cornstarch. This fun, non-competitive 5K run gives all ages a chance to participate and get ‘splattered’ with the color. Runners also are provided with the color powder packets and last year sent up plumes of color as they left the starting area.
Festivities continue a little later on the same day at Jacob Myers Park with River Fest, which starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. The outdoor festival will include Earth Day-type educational activities that will help the community become active stewards and caretakers of the planet. The reduce, reuse, and recycle ideals will be spread throughout the park with informational booths, vendors, and a kids zone. There is no charge to attend the River Fest; however, there may be a small fee for some of the attractions.
