School Bells About To Start Ringing

Some families have been preparing for the first day of school already with school clothes shopping, haircuts, new shoes, and of course, school supplies. Several students may even be adjusting their sleep times to prepare for the not-so-leisurely days that are quickly coming upon us. Technically we are still observing the summer season in August but for students, summer is almost officially over and it is time to hit the books and begin a new school year.

Several school districts will be back in session next week including Riverbank Unified School District (RUSD) that will have 2016-17 new school year activities prior to the first day of school. which is on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Riverbank High School will hold Bruin Day today, Aug. 3 for students from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. where they can get their lockers and class schedules to prepare for the first day of school.

Cardozo Middle School will host its annual Round-up on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.

On Monday, Aug. 8 RUSD will have a new school year “Kick-Off” event in the morning from 8:45 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Riverbank High School in the Ray Fauria Gymnasium. There will also be a luncheon at noon honoring all RUSD employees, classified and certificated that have given 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service.

Classes resume for all elementary, middle and high school students throughout the district on Aug. 10.
