Summer Camps Offered For Riverbank Youngsters

The calendar has turned to spring and that means summer isn’t far behind. Now is the time to look at the various opportunities offered for youngsters locally to help keep them busy during summer vacation.

New this year in the City of Action, the Outdoor Adventure Camp will have a component with Dinosaurs Rock. Kids will hunt for fossils and learn about the giant creatures that once walked the planet. Outdoor Adventure Camp will be held from June 26 through 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Jacob Myers Park. Camp is for children ages 6 to 12. Please bring a sack lunch, water, two snacks, and wear enclosed shoes. Register two weeks early to get a camp shirt.

Also coming up this summer, Soccer Camp put on by Challenger Sports. Qualified coaches from England teach your child the game of soccer. This camp begins on June 5 and runs through June 9 at the Riverbank Sports Complex. Check out challengersports.com to register and to learn more about the camp.

The City of Riverbank’s Parks and Recreation Department will offer other camps like Creepy Crawly Camp from June 5 through 9 for children ages four to seven, from 10 a.m. to noon; Hip Hop Camp from June 12 through 16 for children ages six to 12 lasting from 9 a.m. to noon. Also, Cheerleading Camp from July 5 through 7 for children ages six to 12 from 9 a.m. to noon; Summer Fun and Science Camp from July 10 through 14 for children age six to 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Basketball Camp running from July 17 through 21 for children ages six to 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.
