Last Wednesday was a cool one, and today is expected to reach 100 degrees, with Farmers Market again scheduled at Community Center Park, 3600 Santa Fe, in downtown Riverbank.

Last week’s headline activity was the Senior Safety Fair, held inside the Community Center itself. The Area Agency on Aging distributed Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons again this year.

Today, the feature event will be a wine tasting, also inside the building.

Outside, farmers and other vendors have information and sales booths. Fresh fruit, nuts and vegetables are offered for sale, along with prepared foods like hamburgers and tacos, along with kettle corn.

Another regular feature is a myriad of youth activities, including a bounce house, and games provided by the Parks and Recreation Department.

On the stage next to the Community Center this past Wednesday, the Fun Strummers Ukulele Band performed music, some of which, surprisingly, was pop and rock oriented. They even featured a medley of Elvis songs, complete with costumes and long sideburns.

Tonight’s featured music is scheduled to feature the Brad Brown Band, a group that performed last year.

Coming in future weeks, Let's Move Zumba will be offered on June 29, and Kids Safety Night and Bike Rodeo is planned for July 6.
