Sunny Skies Greet Parade Marchers Downtown

RHS track and cross country runners accompany the coachs van in the Homecoming Parade on Friday in downtown Riverbank. The van, driven by coach Bruce Edwards, included markings on it celebrating years and years of league championships by local boys and girls teams at Riverbank High School.

What is Homecoming Week without a parade? The weather cooperated on Friday, Sept. 22, providing sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, as a variety of floats, teams and locals made their way along the parade route downtown, prior to the Friday night Homecoming game at Riverbank High School.

From the Navy’s junior ROTC program to members of the Kindergarten class this year at Mesa Verde – describing themselves as the Class of 2030 – the parade saw Bruin supporters lining the streets of the downtown area. The RHS band performed, cheerleaders were on hand, the Homecoming candidates rode in style and there were also some floats representing the various themes for the days of the Homecoming Week celebration.

The festivities capped off with crowning of Homecoming royalty on Friday night – King Daniel Madueño and Queen Klarissa Valadez – and saw plenty of alumni turn out for the parade, game and associated activities with the golden anniversary of RHS, which had its first graduating class in the 1967-68 school year.
