Though it is still classified as an ‘unofficial candidate list’ the races appear to be set for some local offices in November.
Stanislaus County Supervisor District 1 – which includes both Oakdale and Riverbank – will see a battle for the post between fire captain Matthew ‘Buck’ Condit and councilman/small businessman Bill Zoslocki. Current Supervisor Kristin Olsen is not running for re-election.
Two positions are coming available on the Oakdale Irrigation District Board. Division 1 will feature a race between retired irrigation manager Ed Tobias and American Veterans First non-profit CEO Donald ‘Duke’ Cooper. Incumbent Gail Altieri is not seeking re-election. In Division 2, the race will pit incumbent Linda Santos against retired automotive technician Henry Dotinga.
Oak Valley Hospital District has two seats available as well, with incumbent Louise Pooley-Sanders and local business owner Jim Teter the only two candidates filing for the posts.
For the Riverbank Unified School District, incumbent Ernest Velasco is the only candidate in Area 1; Diana Gonzalez, a retired school secretary, was the lone candidate filing to fill a short term seat in Area 3 and incumbent Ana Vigil was the lone candidate filing for the seat in Area 5. All are expected to be appointed to those seats in lieu of an election.
Look for profiles of candidates in the contested races coming up in October. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
