The city’s Parks and Recreation Department has announced a continuation of its open swim and lap swimming schedules well into August, despite the scheduled return to classes this week, though via distance learning, by school-aged students and teachers.

Open swimming will continue Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., as well as from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Cost remains $2 per person.

Lap swimming is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays. Swimmers will be limited to one person or family per lane.

Officials also note that swimming lessons will be available again from Monday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 20. Those interested are advised to register online at the city’s website. More information can be found there or by calling the Recreation Office at 863-7150.

They also point out that dealing with COVID-19 issues forces a limited pool capacity and anyone on the pool deck will be required to wear a mask when not in the water.
