The 10th Annual Toys for Tots Flag Football Game is scheduled for Friday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Riverbank High School, and this year is being held for the first time in the football stadium. Battling on the field will be the Riverbank Navy JROTC versus the Ripon Army JROTC. The series has become very competitive according to Master Chief Mike Foster, Naval Science Instructor at Riverbank High School and is a highlight for the JROTC students. Riverbank leads the series with five wins to Ripon’s four.

“Both squads play hard, for the honor of their unit to keep the trophy at their school for the year,” stated Foster. “We have won the last two games.”

Team members bring in a sense of pride for the branch of service they represent, in addition to their individual schools as well.

“No one has won three years in a row so this promises to be a good game again this year,” Foster said.

The admission into the game is a toy, which will be kept for the holiday Toys for Tots campaign, and the cheerleaders from both teams will be performing at half-time. The snack bar will be open for refreshments.

This is an opportunity to collect toys for a good cause and see some football competition among friendly rivals.

“We would like to really get as many veterans as possible to come out and cheer for your branch of service,” said Foster. “This is like a spring game under the lights that should be a lot of fun.”
