Terminal Avenue Crash Claims Riverbank Man
CHP

An early evening accident on Wednesday, March 1 claimed the life of a Riverbank man and left three other people with injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol out of Modesto, the crash occurred about 6:42 p.m. on Terminal Avenue, south of Plainview Road.

CHP was notified of a two-vehicle head on crash at the location and officers were dispatched to the scene.

During the course of the investigation it was determined, based on the preliminary evidence at the scene, that a man identified as Paul Perkins, 65, of Riverbank was driving a 2002 GMC southbound on Terminal Avenue and struck the second vehicle head on. A 32-year-old man from Tracy was driving a 2011 Ford northbound on Terminal when, for an unknown reason, Perkins’ vehicle crossed over from the southbound lane into the northbound lane, directly into the path of travel for the Ford.

Authorities said Perkins sustained fatal injuries and two passengers in the 2002 GMC, a 65-year-old Riverbank woman and a 41-year-old Modesto woman, were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Ford declined treatment and was to seek his own aid.

Both southbound and northbound lanes of Terminal Avenue south of Plainview Road were closed around the scene for the duration of the investigation.
