Riverbank High School’s Winter Homecoming 2020 wrapped up a fun and festive week on Friday, Feb. 14. Celebrating Valentine’s Day and Homecoming alike, the Bruins and their fans marked the occasion with a rally and a home basketball game where Ty Luu was crowned King and Mikayla Macias was crowned Queen during halftime festivities. The 2020 theme of “Welcome to the Bruin Jam” had students participating in all kinds of activities during lunch at the high school and featured themed dress days all week long.
The Queen candidates for this year’s Winter Homecoming were Macias, Anastasia Toscano, Samantha Villanueva, Nazie Noory, and Lupita Ruiz. The King candidates were Luu, Julian Barajas, Bryce Martin, Abel Bravo, and Ricardo Gomez.
“The week went very well,” stated Leadership Teacher Raymond Perez. “Students did a great job showing spirit for each day. I’m very proud of the leadership students stepping up like they always do.”
The students received points for their participation showing their school spirit and this year the seniors won the spirit competition. The leadership class organized all the lunch time activities and got students fired up at the rally held on Friday afternoon. The candidates hit the floor showing some off some dance moves which included Luu and the splits during his dance with Macias.
The boys varsity basketball team won their Homecoming game against Livingston 79-58 to wrap up the regular season. The win on the courts for the Bruins put an end to a fun filled week of Winter Homecoming 2020.
