Now that the summer is over, the Riverbank Federated Women’s Club has scheduled its Salad Social, inviting members and guests to attend.

President Marilyn McRitchie said the event is set for Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. The club meets at the Riverbank Scout Hall, at 3017 High Street.

McRitchie said the RFWC is part of an international service organization that raises money to help provide scholarships for local students.

Among other activities, the club sponsors seventh grade girls who attend the annual science and math ‘Tech Trek’ camp, she said. The club also adopts a family during the Christmas holiday season and donates money to the City of Riverbank to support activities during the year.

Members and supporters also knit baby caps, which are donated to local hospitals.

McRitchie noted that the money to support such charitable giving is raised through a variety of events held during the year.

In the fall, she said, the club sells poinsettias and hosts the annual Holiday Luncheon. Members also volunteer at the annual Cheese and Wine Expo in October.

In the spring, community members look forward to the club’s annual Enchilada Take Out sale.

McRitchie said that club meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. at the Scout Hall. Anyone interested in learning more about the organization is invited to attend the Salad Social on Sept. 20, or they can call membership chair Jeanine Tucker, at 863-9789.
