The Riverbank Federated Women’s Club has announced plans for its holiday activities over the next two months, with the return of two favorites.
Holiday Luncheon Is Back
The club is making final preparations for its Holiday Luncheon, which is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Community Center on Santa Fe Street.
The event was not held in 2018 since the city had a remodeling and renovation project happening at the Center at this time last year.
Co-Chair Marilyn McRitchie said she was excited about the return of the event, based on the response of the women “who have volunteered to decorate tables and invite their friends to share in the afternoon event this year,” she said.
She said she has prepared copies of all the essential information hostesses will need, starting to distribute the packets beginning on Nov. 6. McRitchie said that she and her co-chair will be available between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the Starbucks in the Crossroads Shopping Center, next to the Coldstone store.
She said she is looking forward to seeing participants there, but also suggests that those who are unable to attend, “can let me know and I’ll mail or drop off your packet.”
McRitchie can be contacted at 209-869-1760.
“As we’ve done in the past,” she said, “the set up will take place on Friday, Dec. 6, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Community Center. On Saturday, we’ll open at 9 a.m. for final touches to your tables.”
Poinsettia Fundraiser Sales
Sales of poinsettias the club usually does each year is returning this month.
“It’s time to start selling the poinsettias to friends and family,” McRitchie reminded her members.
She said the club usually meets on the third Thursday of the month, at the Scout Hall. Rather than waiting that late in the month, she’s sending out the sales packets to club members so sellers will be able to meet the Nov. 27 deadline.
“So rather than wait until that meeting, I am attaching the three forms to an e-mail, she said. “You will need them in order to sell the poinsettias before the deadline of Nov. 27.”
The poinsettias will be handed out on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Community Center between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. — the same day the hostesses will be setting their tables for the luncheon.
The money the club raises is spent at the end of the school year on scholarships for Riverbank students, in both the Riverbank and the Sylvan school districts.
