This past weekend the City of Riverbank’s Parks and Recreation Department along with the Friends of Jacob Myers Park hosted a movie night featuring a night viewing of ‘Wonder Woman’ at Jacob Myers Park. They will offer two more outdoor movies at night this summer at the park with a showing of “Peter Rabbit” on July 21 and “The SpongeBob Square Pants Movie” on Aug. 11. Movies will begin at dusk and admission is free to all ages.
Parks and Recreation Supervisor, Julia Petit made her way out to the outdoor showing, making it a family event by bringing her parents and little sister.
“We all had a blast,” said Petit. “We had about 200 to 250 people at this event. These events are all ages and free for the community. The Tri-Tipery came and served their delicious tri tip sandwiches and salads.”
The movies start at dark, which is when it is seen on the projector the best, so the Saturday, June 23 movie started at around 8:50 p.m. and ended about 11:30 p.m. The Teen Center committee sold popcorn for the movie goers and all the proceeds will go towards the Teen Center Fund for future events. The Friends of Jacob Myers Park also had a booth on hand at the event and after an introduction and welcome, Petit directed people that were interested in joining the committee to the ‘Friends’ booth.
