Modesto gas prices have fallen 7.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.97/gallon on Monday, Oct. 12, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations. Gas prices in Modesto are 8.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 103.0 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $2.65/gallon Monday while the most expensive was $3.67, a difference of $1.02/gallon. The lowest price in the state as of Oct. 12 was $2.39/gallon while the highest was $4.89, a difference of $2.50/gallon.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.1 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.16/gallon. The national average is down 1.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 47.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.09/gallon, down 2.1 cents from last week’s $3.11; Oakland - $3.28, down 2.2 cents from $3.30; and San Jose - $3.25, down 3.8 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.29/gallon.

“Average gasoline prices largely remain rangebound as the tug of war between market forces continues to keep prices confined near current levels,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
