Mid-Cal Blue Star Moms Beginning Holiday Drive
blue star

With the holiday season fast approaching, the local Mid-Cal Blue Star Moms CA39 is gearing up for its annual care package drive to support the troops.

This year, they are partnering with the Kaiser Permanente Veterans Council to pack Christmas Care Packages on Saturday, Nov. 14.

As with most things amid the pandemic, group officials said the effort will look a little different for them, so they are not able to invite the public to this packing event. But they are still hoping for support and ask residents to donate if possible. Most items are needed by Friday, Nov. 13. Items received after that date will be sent in future care packages, but may not arrive until after Christmas.

If you know someone who is deployed or won’t be home for Christmas send the address in a private message to www.midcalbluestarmoms.org.

Items requested at this time include inexpensive Christmas décor; snack items such as jerky, candy, tuna, popcorn, etc.; drink mixes including cocoa, instant coffee, cider mix, tea; small stationery supplies such as post-it notes, command strips, etc.; and cards and letters of support from the community.

Drop-offs can be made at the Escalon Mt. Mike’s Pizza or call 209-336-3221 for other pick-up or drop-off options.

Tax-deductible donations to help with postage or supplies may be made through Facebook, on the website (www.midcalbluestarmoms.org), or mailed directly to their post office box, P.O. Box 1745, Oakdale, CA 95361.
