Earlier this month, The Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine published its annual “Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics,” and Modesto Junior College made the list, coming in at No. 42.

Every year Hispanic Outlook on Education features Top 100 Lists to chart the national progress of Hispanics in higher education and to recognize the institutions that are committed to serving Hispanics’ educational needs.

Modesto Junior College President, Dr. Jim Houpis stated: “We are very honored to make this list, given we are a Hispanic Serving Institution and take every measure to meet the educational and personal needs of our students and be a resource for our Hispanic community.”

Vice President of Student Services and the highest ranking Hispanic MJC administrator, Flerida Arias added: “This is truly an honor for our institution. The majority of our students are first-generation college attendees and face so many challenges: financial, social and emotional. This pandemic has only exacerbated that. At MJC, we provide support services that mitigate these challenges.”
