The Mother Lode Jewish Community invites all to join in for a Havdalah and Potluck Dinner and Movie Night, featuring The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m. This casual and fun evening will take place at a member’s home in East Sonora.

Later in the month there will be another gathering, a Tu B’Shvat Seder beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 in Copperopolis. This “New Year of the Trees” festival will include a potluck lunch featuring the bounty of seasonal fruits and vegetables available in the foothills and will also include a tree planting.

More information is available on the MLJC activity calendar on the website: www.motherlodejewishcommunity.org. MLJC events take place primarily in the Jamestown/Sonora/Columbia and Murphys/Copperopolis areas. These gatherings are open, most at no charge, to non-members who wish to participate in the Jewish Community.

The MLJC’s mission is to provide opportunities and events that nurture a vibrant and enduring Jewish identity, culture and community in the Mother Lode, drawing members from multiple counties. New members and guests are always welcome. Call 209-533-1650 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for more information.
