Riverbank Police Services will be participating in the annual 'National Night Out' event, Tuesday evening, Aug. 4.
The National Night Out campaign involves emergency and law enforcement agencies, civic groups, neighborhood organizations, local government officials, local businesses and citizens throughout the community for the purpose of:
Heightening crime and drug prevention awareness
Generating support for, and participation in local anti-crime programs such as Neighborhood Watch
Strengthening neighborhood spirits and police-community partnerships
Sending a message to criminals letting them know that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods celebrate National Night Out with a variety of events and activities such as "block parties."
If your Riverbank neighborhood is having a block party and you would like to have members of the Sheriff's department stop by and visit, please contact Community Service Officer Gina Reno at 863-7106.
