Construction work has begun across the street from Riverbank High School on a new housing development. Called Bruin Heights, it will offer residential units as part of what was designated ‘Bruinville’ by the city years ago, development that was planned in the area surrounding the campus. This is at the northeast corner of Central and California avenues, and diagonally across the intersection from other recently completed homes. It is directly across Central from the outfield of the varsity baseball field. Construction was to close California Avenue to through traffic this week, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day as work on utility piping was planned.
