A young man was shot and killed during a physical fight outside a local convenience store in the early hours of Aug. 5, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.
The victim, identified as Chaz Bettencourt, 21 of Riverbank, died in hospital. The suspects, who fled, were reported to be three in number.
The incident took place at 12:40 a. m. outside the AM/PM Market attached to the gas service station at Oakdale and Patterson roads, said Sheriff's public information officer Deputy Andrew Winter.
