Newspapers Considered Safe, Says World Health Organization
papers

Dear Readers,

We are committed to the safety of our communities and keeping you informed during the coronavirus pandemic.

It has been deemed safe to receive packages such as newspapers, even from areas which have reported cases of COVID-19.

According to the World Health Organization: “The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.”

America’s Centers for Disease Control also advised consumers that coronavirus had “a very low risk” of spreading on packages, newspapers, and other mail due to the “poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces.”

To ensure our subscribers remain safe, we have taken extra precautions in our printing and distribution centers. We continue to monitor our operation by maintaining social distancing in our facilities and working to keep our manufacturing equipment clean. Our printing process is highly automated and the staff follows CDC recommended guidelines along with our delivery partners.

As a home delivery subscriber, you have access to our E-Edition, an online replica of our newspaper. Please activate your digital account, which is included with your subscription, at www.theriverbanknews.com. Our customer service team is here to help you navigate any questions you have by contacting us at 209-847-3021.

Now more than ever, we are grateful for your support of local journalism as we navigate these uncertain times together.

Sincerely,

Hank N. Vander Veen
