A heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 through 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued the advisory for multiple areas including the Northern San Joaquin Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta, Motherlode and Southern Sacramento Valley.

Afternoon highs of 95 to 103 are expected both Tuesday and Wednesday with widespread moderate heat risk as well as some areas of major heat risk. Limited overnight relief is anticipated on Tuesday night with low temperatures in the 60s to low 70s.

Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially impacting individuals without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.

Hottest temperatures this week are expected Tuesday. Area waterways will continue to run cold and fast, creating dangerous conditions for those seeking relief in rivers and lakes.

Forecasters advise residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
