Oak Riv Fire Calls

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 7 through Monday, March 13. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 13

Congratulations to Probationary Firefighters Fenton, C. Fritz and Edmonston for successfully completing their seven-month test.

Modesto Fire has one Engineer deployed as a Line Medic in Tulare County. This is part of a Cal OES pre-position to assist with flooding.

Battalion 2: Hose testing has started for all of our apparatuses. They tested over 14,000 feet of hose yesterday and it will wrap up today.

Battalion 5: Water Rescue Boat Training was conducted at Woodward Reservoir by WR18, WR24, and WR29.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 12

SATURDAY, MARCH 11

Battalion 5: Battalion Chief 5 assisted at the Stanislaus County EOC, Emergency Operations Center.

3:53 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 26, BC5, Oak Valley Ambulance and CHP responded to an injury accident on Patterson Road at Bentley Road. Three patients transported. CHP is investigating.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 10

Battalion 2: Engine 26 attended career day at Riverbank Language Academy.

E21 conducted through the lock training for all BC2 companies.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

Engine 27 and E28 performed company level training focusing on rope rescue.

1:54 a.m. – MST units responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 108. BC5 arrived and reported a single vehicle off the roadway into an orchard. E27 reported one minor injury. BC5 cleared the incoming units. Sheriff’s Department investigating.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 9

MCS crews kept busy mitigating multiple weather-related emergencies.

Battalion 2: Quint 22 trained on auto extrication as well as vehicle stabilization and Engine 26 trained on various hose pulls.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance. As well as conducted in house training.

MSTBC5 attended ORFD Board meeting in Knights Ferry.

MST Water Rescue 18 and 28 conducted training at Woodward Reservoir.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8

Crews conducted station maintenance and apparatus and equipment maintenance.

Two members of the hazmat team attended training in the Los Angeles area as part of the statewide OES team training provided.

Battalion 5: Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews conducted probationary firefighter training.

11:44 a.m. – Modesto E29, SQ11, and BC5 responded to a carbon monoxide alarm with symptoms in the 300 block of East F Street in Oakdale. The source was a faulty hot water heater that was causing a natural gas leak and was isolated. Crews utilized a gas monitor to ensure the business was safe to occupy, PG&E also confirmed with their gas monitor that business could resume.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 7

Battalion 5: Crews rotated through Quarterly Driver Training at the RFTC to cover standpipe operations. Crews completed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

12:26 a.m. – Modesto E27, WT27, and BC5 were dispatched to assist Cal Fire TCU with a residential working structure fire in the 19000 block of Hess Avenue in Sonora. Crews assisted on scene for approximately an hour before being released.
