Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 09-28-22

Crews from Oakdale and Knights Ferry stations met this week for training, working cooperatively to perform a simulated low angle rescue. Modesto Fire Department Photo

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept. 20 through Monday, Sept. 26. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 25

Companies finished the last rotations of battalion drills. Crews trained on above ground hose line operations.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 24

The Modesto Firefighter’s Association Honor Guard assisted CalFire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit in honoring the passing of air tanker pilot Ken Lancaster. Ken passed away on September 5th as the result of an off-duty airplane accident. The memorial service was held for Ken at Columbia College on Saturday, September 24th. Ken is survived by his wife and five children.

Crews participated in the active shooter training in Ceres.

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 23

Engines 27 (Oakdale), 28 (Oakdale), and 29 (Knights Ferry) performed a simulated low angle rescue.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 22

Engine 29 (Knights Ferry) assisted Tuolumne County on a single vehicle accident with pin in. On scene the solo occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased. E29 assisted CHP with extrication and body recovery.

E21 and E26 conducted night drills on 2 Out/Ric operations.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 21

MSTE28 assisted Oakdale High School ROP program.

 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 20

Crews conducted rope rescue training and Probationary Firefighter sign offs.

1:57 a.m. – Engines 28, 29 and Battalion 5 responded to a vehicle accident at Highway 4 and Dunton Road. While responding, updated information came in that it was a rollover. An air ambulance was also started. Crews arrived on scene to find one patient out of the vehicle with minor injuries. He was treated and transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance.
