Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 2-24-21

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Feb. 16 through Monday, Feb. 22. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, FEB. 22

4:22 a.m. – Modesto, Ceres, Stanislaus Consolidated and Turlock City Fire responded to reports of a working commercial structure fire in the 200 block of H Street in Modesto. Crews arrived on scene and found a single story convenience store with smoke and fire showing from the rear of the building. A large two-story apartment over the mercantile building that was an immediate exposure with fire impinging near the upper windows was evacuated as a precaution. A Second Alarm was called for and staged as a contingent. Crews forced entry into both buildings and contained the fire to the rear of the store. No injuries were reported. FIU is investigating the cause.

Weekly apparatus and equipment checks were completed.

 

SUNDAY, FEB. 21

Crews rotated through multi-company training simulating a residential garage fire at Station 17.

 

SATURDAY, FEB. 20

FRIDAY, FEB. 19

1:30 p.m. – Vehicle accident on Highway 4 and Milton Road. Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 29, Battalion Chief 5 responded to find two patients with minor injuries who were transported to a local hospital. CHP is investigating.

 

THURSDAY, FEB. 18

Crews rotated through Station 22 today to participate in quarterly EMS Skills refresher training.

6:48 p.m. – Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a residential structure fire in the 5100 block of Santa Fe Street in the city of Riverbank. Upon arrival, crews found a single story residence with a well involved attached garage; crews worked in the defensive mode to contain the spread of the fire then transitioned to offensive mode to extinguish the fire then search the residence. Extensive overhaul was required. No injuries reported; the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit was on scene working to determine cause and origin.

 

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 17

Today the fire academy trained on vertical ventilation technique while on-duty personnel refreshed on EMS skills.

 

TUESDAY, FEB. 16

8:31 a.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 responded to the 5000 block of Ellenwood Road on the outskirts of the City of Oakdale for the report of a potential structure fire in a residence. Crews arrived on scene and found that a small fire in the residence had been extinguished. Crews checked and confirmed that it was out. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The Stanislaus County FIU is continuing the investigation.
