Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 3-11-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 3 through Monday, March 9. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 9

Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly Monday engine checks on their first out apparatus.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed weekly apparatus and equipment maintenance.

8:40 p.m. – Engine 27 came upon a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of West F Street and North Lee Avenue in Oakdale. Two patients were treated for minor injuries and transported to local hospitals. Oakdale Police Department investigating.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 8

Modesto Fire members participated in the 35th Annual Firefighters Stair Climb in Seattle. The event supports Blood Cancer United.

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 crews rotated through multi company drills at Tower 17.

Water Rescue 26 trained on the Tuolumne River.

Battalion 5: 3:10 a.m. – Engine 28, Engine 23 and BC2 responded to a solo vehicle accident on the Oakdale Waterford Highway near Claribel Road. Reports were coming in of a crash with the vehicle on fire. Crews arrived to find four people entrapped in the car. Two other occupants were able to get out of the car. They were both transported to a local hospital before being flown out for further treatment. Unfortunately, all four people in the car were declared deceased at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.

4:02 a.m. – Engine 26, Engine 27, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a solo vehicle crash on Patterson Road in Riverbank. Initial reports had the driver pinned in the vehicle. Law enforcement arrived on scene and was able to extricate the driver from the car. The patient was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 7

Battalion 2: Companies across the battalion conducted Saturday training on everything from water rescue to commercial fire attack evolutions.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 and Engine 28 escorted the Oakdale High School girls’ soccer team out of town while they headed to the NorCal Final.

Battalion 5 attended monthly BC training at Station 22. The topics were target hazard buildings and high rise tactics.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 6

Battalion 2: Engine and Water Tender 23 trained on drafting. Engine 26 trained on hoseline deployments.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 did a pre fire plan walk through of the Life Community Church on F Street in Oakdale. Crews talked about building construction, hose estimation and stretches along with fire ground tactics.

Engine 28, Engine 29, and Battalion 5 responded to the report of an injury accident in the 14000 block of 26 Mile Road in Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to find one motorcycle off the side of the roadway. Engine 28 along with AMR provided EMS care to one patient with moderate injuries. The patient was transported to a local area hospital for further care.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 5

Battalion 2: Crews focused on exterior station maintenance and yards throughout the district.

B-Shift Battalion Chiefs, Chief Nicasio, Medic 1, Engine 3 and E28 met at Station 22 for training. Topics included Target Hazards, Rural Water Supply, and MCI’s.

Q22 was dispatched to the area of Turnberry Lane and Rivercove Drive for a reported illegal burn. Q22 arrived on scene and found a smoldering pile of brush near the river. Q22 was able to extinguish the fire.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

BC5 participated in the BC monthly training at Station 22.

11:40 a.m. – Engine 27 and Water Tender 27 along with other MST resources were called to assist Turlock Fire Department with a working commercial structure fire. Due to the location and lack of fire hydrants, crews provided water and manpower assistance during the incident.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4

Battalion 2: Engine 21 and Quint 22 assisted with the Driver Operator 1B class.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed daily apparatus and equipment maintenance.

Engine 29 performed weekly apparatus, equipment and station inspection and maintenance at Fire Station 30 in Valley Home.

Engine 27’s crew welcomed local Oakdale residents for a tour of the firehouse.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 3

Battalion 2: 10:27 a.m. – Engines 3, 5, 6, 11, 26, Truck 5, Battalions 2 and 3 responded to a residential working structure fire for a garage on fire in the 4100 block of Alexandria Court. E11 was the first to arrive and reported a fire in the garage of a two-story house. A quick, aggressive attack contained the fire to the garage and only some minor smoke damage to the interior of the house. Stanislaus FIU is investigating the cause of the fire.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed daily apparatus and equipment maintenance.
