Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 3-12-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 4 through Monday, March 10. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 10

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 26 trained on their cardiac field treatment protocols.

Battalion 5: Crews performed Monday apparatus checks and yard maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Engine 27 and Battalion 5 attended a Detail Page Committee meeting.

Oakdale companies did pre-fire plan walk through of Belmar Senior residence in Station 27’s FMA as well as the H-B building that contains residential living over commercial occupancy.

12:50 a.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 responded for a potential structure fire in the 1900 block of Carmel Ranch Circle. Engine 28 arrived on scene of a single-story residence with nothing showing. Upon further investigation crews found a light haze inside the residence that was caused by a malfunctioning HVAC unit. Crews secured power to the unit and assisted with smoke removal.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 9

Members of Modesto Fire Department participated in the Firefighter Stair Climb in Seattle. The event is in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Modesto Fire Department members have participated for several years in support of the event. This event is one of a kind, challenging firefighters to climb over 1,300 steps in full turnout gear to honor and support the blood cancer community. It’s a tribute to the patients and families they’re climbing for.

Battalion 2: 8:15 a.m. – Engines 3, 7, 9, 21, 23, 27, Quint 22, Water Tenders 21, 23, and 27 responded to a residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Wellsford Road. Battalion 2 was the first to arrive and reported a well-involved shop; all occupants were out of the building. E9 and 23 began a fire attack, with WT 21 and 23 providing water supply. The fire was quickly contained in the building of origin. Stanislaus FIU was on the scene conducting the cause and origin investigation.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews took advantage of the good weather and completed yard maintenance.

8:15 a.m. – Battalion 5 companies assisted with fire attack, water supply and overhaul on the Wellsford Road structure fire.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 8

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Battalion 5 attended monthly BC training, focusing on Incident Command at Hazardous Materials incidents.

Engine 29 trained on launching Boat 29 and radio operations.

Engine 27 trained with Truck 5 on ground ladders.

4:47 a.m. – Engine 29 and Battalion 5 to Highway 108 and Tulloch for a vehicle accident. Crews responded on mutual aid to Cal Fire TCU for an overturned vehicle. Engine 29 arrived on scene and reported that the vehicle was unoccupied. At the same time, Engine 4476 requested 29 just east of the turnoff. Engine 29 arrived, treated and packaged one patient with minor injuries.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 7

Battalion 2: Engine 26 performed hose evolutions and had a new SR911 dispatcher riding with them today.

6:31 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Morrill Road and Oakdale Road. The accident was non-injury. Riverbank PD is investigating the accident.

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 conducted station maintenance in their respective stations.

Company Level Training was completed in Battalion 5’s FMA with engine companies.

Battalion 5 ran BC test candidates through wildland scenarios in preparation for the upcoming assessment center.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 6

Battalion 5: Engine 28’s crew, specifically prospective engineer Erik Arnold, trained on the air unit that is housed at Station 28 in Oakdale. This is a specialty piece of apparatus that is dispatched to large fires or incidents needing extended amounts of time with firefighters breathing air with their SCBA’s. This mobile unit provides the ability to have an on-site air supply for the incident.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 2 officers participated in the monthly battalion chief command training.

Station 26 personnel gave a station tour to two Riverbank residents.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

5:50 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 responded to an injury accident on Valley Home Road just north of Lon Dale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a two-vehicle accident and checked for injuries. Two minor patients were treated at the scene by Engine 28 and were later transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Crews assisted with traffic control until CHP arrived at scene.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 4

MST Firefighters trained with Sacramento City Firefighters on search and rescue techniques at a joint training session. Attendees will be the instructor cadre for this spring’s MST search and rescue training.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews completed online EMS training as part of their mandated continuing education.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

BC5 attended the monthly all chiefs meeting.
