The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 23 through Monday, March 29. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 28

All stations performed weekly COVID PPE count.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 27

Crews rotated through annual driver’s training sign off for Type 1 engines and water tenders.

10:47 a.m. – Engine 26, Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to a reported hay fire in the 6600 block of Crane Road. On arrival a hay pile under a metal pole barn was found to be burning. One additional engine and three water tenders were requested to the scene. Crews worked to cool the fire then the hay was spread with heavy equipment to complete the extinguishment.

8:45 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 responded to an injury vehicle accident on Valley Home Road. On arrival multiple vehicles were involved with a power pole that had been hit. One patient was declared deceased on scene; CHP also on scene investigating.

8:48 p.m. – Engine 7, 9, 24, 26, 29, Quint 22, Battalion 1 and 2 responded for a reported working structure fire on Stone Avenue. On arrival a single family home with an active roof and attic fire was found. Crews operated in the offensive mode containing the fire to the roof and attic. Stanislaus Regional FIU was on scene for the fire investigation. Property and content loss was estimated at $200,000.

While fire crews worked on the Stone Avenue structure fire, other fire companies responded to multiple other calls including: injury vehicle accidents, vegetation fires, trash fires, a chimney fire and medical emergencies.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 25

2:42 a.m. – Units from Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the report of a commercial working structure fire at the 6000 Block of Claus Road. Crews arrived on scene to a two story apartment complex to find a fire that had started on the patio had set off a fire sprinkler. The crews checked for extension and found the fire was contained to the patio area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

6:14 p.m. – Engine 28, 29, and Battalion 5 responded to a vehicle accident on Willms Road for a solo vehicle that struck a bridge. One patient was air lifted to a local hospital in stable condition.

7:25 p.m. – Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a residential structure fire on Eleanor Road in Oakdale. Crews worked in the offensive mode to contain a small room and contents fire in a kitchen area of a single story a residence. The FIU is investigating the cause and origin.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24

The Joint Academy conducted wildland training in Knights Ferry.

2:30 p.m. – Modesto and Stanislaus units responded to a vegetation fire between Terminal and Claus in Riverbank. The fire was contained to approximately two acres. Fire cause is under investigation.
