Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 4-1-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 24 through Monday, March 30. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 30

Members of the Modesto Fire Department began hazmat school in Stockton.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted Monday apparatus checks and station yard maintenance.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 29

Battalion 2: Engine 24 and Battalion Chief 2 responded to the 30000 block of Yosemite Boulevard for an injury from the LaGrange Rodeo, while enroute two additional patients were identified and CalFire 4496 was added to the response. After units arrived, a total of five patients were eventually evaluated and treated and were either released AMA (Against Medical Advice) or transported by ground ambulance.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Battalion 5 crews completed mandated Target Solution assignments, conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Engine 28 simulated a fire at a two-story commercial structure with a below grade parking area in the City of Oakdale. Multiple methods of hose stretches were performed depending on the fire location. Challenges of this building included access, long stretches, and interior arrangement of the building.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 28

Technical rescue companies trained in breaching and breaking.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed daily apparatus and equipment maintenance.

Crews completed mandated on-line training.

Engine 6, E27, T5, and Q18 conducted Engineer’s training for the upcoming promotional exam

9:24 a.m. – E28 responded to the 1500 block of Anconia Street in Oakdale for a report of a male that was unresponsive; upon arrival, they found a male that was in cardiac arrest. After several minutes of ALS care, the patient was transported by Oak Valley Ambulance with E28 assisting.

12:20 p.m. – E28, E29, and BC5 responded to the intersection of Milton Road and Highway 4 near Farmington for a report of a motor vehicle accident. E28 arrived and found two vehicles involved in a traffic collision; one vehicle on its roof, and one vehicle with power lines down on the vehicle. Three patients were transported with minor injuries, CHP investigating.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 27

MST new hire academy finished up the weeklong training on technical rescue skills.

Battalion 2: Captain Anderson assisted with rescue systems at the RFTC as part of the MST Academy Cadre.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies completed daily apparatus and equipment maintenance.

Crews completed mandated on-line training.

E29 hosted two students from Hughson High School. They discussed career opportunities, provided a tour of the firehouse, and concluded with a hands-on hose evolution.

E28 and E6 conducted training for the upcoming Engineer’s promotional exam.

11:28 a.m. – E27, E28, and BC5 responded to the intersection of Valley Home Road/26 Mile Road in Oakdale for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. E28 arrived and found two vehicles involved in a traffic collision. One occupant complained of pain but refused transport. CHP investigating.

2:30 p.m. – Brush 28, BC5 and CalFire TCU responded to the intersection of Eastman Road/28 Mile Road in Oakdale for a report of a brush fire. B28 arrived and found a small grass fire north of the Woodward Reservoir that had been extinguished prior to arrival. B28 and E4462 remained on scene to mop-up the affected area.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 26

The MST Firefighter Academy continued training evolutions (Rope Rescue) at the Regional Fire Training Center.

MFD Fire Explorers conducted ground ladder training at the RFTC.

Battalion 2: Crews attended EMS quarterly training at Fire Station 22.

Crews completed exterior yard maintenance.

Battalion 5: Engine 27’s crew trained on ladders in their respective FMA.

Battalion 5 attended EMS quarterly training at Station 22 on policy review.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25

The MST Firefighter Academy continued training (Rope Rescue evolutions) at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 2: Crews attended EMS quarterly training at Fire Station 22.

4:36 p.m. – Engine 21, Quint 18, Engine 23, Engine 9, Engine and Water Tender 27, and BC2 responded to South McClure Road for a large debris pile fire threatening heavy equipment. Crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control.

Battalion 5: 5:37 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 26 and BC5 responded to a two-vehicle collision on Albers Road in Oakdale. One patient was treated at the scene by Oak Valley Ambulance.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 24

Members of the Modesto Fire Department Hazmat Team attended a lithium-ion battery program.

Battalion 2: Engine 26’s crew trained on building construction in their first due.

Capt. Anderson assisted the training division with teaching the new hire academy teaching rope rescue skills at the RFTC.

Battalion 5: Daily equipment checks were performed.

Engine 27 attended the funeral of an Oakdale family that the parents and two young children died in a vehicle accident.

E28 walked through a new residential development in Oakdale with houses under various stages of construction. The crew familiarized themselves with construction materials and building methods as well as residential sprinkler systems. They also stretched and flowed the RAM for defensive operations and exposure protection.

6:50 a.m. – Engine 28, 29, CalFire 4462, Battalion 5 responded to Highway 4 and Dunton Road for a vehicle accident. On scene crews found a head on collision with all the highway blocked. E28 and 4462 triaged all patients. There were a total of two immediate patients and one delayed. The two immediate patients were flown by Reach 2 and PHI 4-1 air ambulances to local trauma centers. The delayed patient was transported via ground ambulance to a trauma center in Modesto.
