Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 4-14-21

Local fire crews did some rescue training this past week at several spots in the Stanislaus River and then were involved in an actual rescue of four rafters on Sunday, April 11 along the river. Modesto Fire Department Photo

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, April 6 through Monday, April 12. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 11

Crews conducted water rescue training on the Stanislaus River.

1 p.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the report of a water rescue on the Stanislaus River. Crews arrived on scene to find four subjects that were rafting and became separated. The boat crews were able to retrieve the rafters and the shore-based crews assisted with moving the rafters and their boats to shore. No injuries were reported.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 10

Crews conducted water rescue training in Knights Ferry on the Stanislaus River.

7:45 a.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the report of a poultry barn on fire. Crews arrived on scene to find a portion of a poultry barn on fire. Crews were able to get a hose line in place and prevent further damage to the remaining barns. The Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.

 

FRIDAY, APRIL 9

A small, socially distanced promotional ceremony was held this evening.

 

THURSDAY, APRIL 8

Haz Mat Team conducted monthly team training.

6:55 p.m. – Engine 5, Truck 5, BC1 responded for a vehicle accident at the intersection of East Briggsmore and Roselle; it was a minor injury accident.

8:58 p.m. – E29, B28, BC5 responded for a roadside grass fire at Highway 4 and Milton Road.

 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7

7:55 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire on Haddon Avenue. Crews arrived to find a well involved out building in a back yard, not threatening other structures. Crews extinguished the blaze then provided with overhaul. Cause and origin under investigation by the FIU.
