Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 5-26-21

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, May 18 through Monday, May 24. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MAY 24

12:12 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres, Stanislaus Consolidated, Farmington, Collegeville, Copperopolis, and Cal Fire responded for a commercial working structure in the area of Milton and Dunton roads with a threat to surrounding wild land. Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved 27,000 square foot warehouse. The incident was divided into three divisions with the goal of keeping fire out of a new warehouse of the same size. Four water tenders were used for water supply and a Cal Fire aircraft remained overhead looking for spot fires in the dry grass. Once the threat to the wild land was mitigated all aircraft were released. A total of seven engines, four water tenders, one quint and four chief officers responded to the incident. The fire was brought under control in two-and-a-half hours.

 

SUNDAY, MAY 23

Training was conducted on responding to commercial fires.

12:30 p.m. – Modesto Fire, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire and Ceres Fire units responded to assist Burbank Paradise Fire on a working residential structure fire on Poland Avenue.

12:38 p.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the report of a vegetation fire on Litt Road. Crews arrived on scene to find a vegetation fire burning around a pole barn. Crews were able to keep the fire to less than 10 acres. Crews were on scene for over 90 minutes overhauling the fire.

 

SATURDAY, MAY 22

Technical Rescue training was conducted at the Regional Fire Training Center.

2:50 p.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the report of a vegetation fire on the 14000 block of 26-Mile Road. Crews arrived on scene to find a vegetation fire burning around a large pole barn. Crews were able to keep the fire to less than 10 acres. Crews were on scene for over three hours overhauling the fire.

 

FRIDAY, MAY 21

8 a.m. – Tech rescue companies, SQ11, T-1 and T-5 completed their annual confined space entry training. Crews worked on setting up systems to make entry in to an oxygen deficient confined space and practiced rescue techniques.

4:19 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27 responded to a vehicle fire on Valley View Drive. Crews were able to quickly extinguish an engine compartment fire.

10:32 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28, 27, Battalion 5 and Consolidated Engine 26 responded to the area of Albers Road and Warnerville Road for a two-vehicle accident with one vehicle that had rolled over. One patient was transported to an area hospital. Oakdale Police Department was on scene investigating the collision.

 

THURSDAY, MAY 20

2:55 p.m. – Modesto Brush 1, Grass 3, Water Tender and Grass 27, Brush 28, and Battalions 2 and 5 responded to a vegetation fire on Langworth/Milnes roads.

3:43 p.m. – Modesto Grass 27, Brush 1, Stanislaus Consolidated Engine 23, Brush 24 and Battalion 5 responded with Cal Fire to a vegetation fire on Ellenwood Road, the fire was contained to 40 acres.

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 19

Technical Rescue Team members refreshed on confined space rescue skills today at the RFTC.

Oakdale crews, alongside Cal Fire crews, refreshed on auto extrication skills at an auto dismantler yard in Oakdale.

2:56 p.m. – Stanislaus Consolidated Brush 24, Engine 21, Battalion 2, Modesto Battalion 5, and Brush 28 responded to the area of Hickman Road bridge for a vegetation fire located on both sides of the Tuolumne River; Hughson Fire units assisted on the south side of the river.

 

TUESDAY, MAY 18

4:34 p.m. – Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a vegetation fire on Minniear Avenue, near Riverbank. Upon arrival, crews found a wind driven, fast moving grass fire immediately threatening nearby structures; the incident was upgraded to a residential structure fire response then quickly went to three alarms, bringing additional fire units to the scene. Multiple out buildings, vehicles, and equipment were damaged by fire with one smoke inhalation victim requiring medical attention. Crews worked for over three hours providing overhaul and checking for hot spots. During this incident, multiple other incidents were occurring around the area, which caused little, to no availability of fire resources for a period of time. A request was made to San Joaquin County to send additional resources to help cover during this period of resource draw down. We received coverage from the city of Manteca (E245), Stockton (E13), Lathrop-Manteca (Br30), Lodi (E2031), Woodbridge (E7-2), Waterloo-Morada (E15-1), and the South County Fire Authority (E92). No injuries reported; the cause of the fire is under investigation.

7:03 p.m. – Fire units responded to a vehicle accident on Orange Blossom Road, in east Oakdale. Crews arrived to find two vehicles involved, with multiple patients and one person trapped and one confirmed fatality. Crews provided extrication and patient care; three patients were transported to area hospitals by ground ambulance, one in critical condition was transported by air ambulance. CHP is currently investigating the incident.

9:28 p.m. – Engine 26 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to cardiac arrest in Riverbank. Pit Crew CPR was initiated; after 30 minutes, ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) was achieved. The patient was transported to an area hospital.
