The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, April 26 through Monday, May 2. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
SATURDAY, APRIL 30
Members of our Hazmat and Technical Rescue Team continue to train with responders from across the state at the annual Sentinel Drill. Team members mitigated uncontrolled hazardous materials leaks, treated, and rescued victims of a simulated 7.9 earthquake in Sonoma County.
The Modesto Fire Department partnered with the Modesto Police Department, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire, Turlock Fire, AMR, Chrysler Elementary and conducted active shooter training.
Engine 28 attended Love Oakdale event.
FRIDAY, APRIL 29
Our Hazmat and Technical Rescue Team participated in a two-day training exercise in Sonoma County. The California Army National Guard – CBRN Task Force and Cal-OES Fire Rescue Branch host the two-day Sentinel Response multi agency exercise. Scenarios are a result of a 7.9 earthquake, simulating building collapses, multi-casualties, fires, and uncontrolled releases of hazardous materials. THURSDAY, APRIL 28
Engine 27 assisted the Oakdale High School Fire Science Class.
Station 27 personnel provided a station tour after returning from a call.
11:12 a.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5 and BC5 responded to a potential structure fire for a possible gas leak in the City of Oakdale. Engine 27 worked with PG&E and the Oakdale Police Department to identify a possible gas leak from a residence.
BC5 attended the Knights Ferry MAC meeting.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27
Crews continued with the wildland refresher training at Tuolumne River Regional Park.
Crews trained with probationary firefighters on various skills.
Station 28 conducted company level training on rope rescue.
