Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 6-23-21

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, June 15 through Monday, June 21. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

 

MONDAY, JUNE 21

Weekly apparatus and equipment checks were completed.

 

SUNDAY, JUNE 20

Battalion Drills were staged covering commercial building fires.

MCS probationary training continued.

 

SATURDAY, JUNE 19

Technical Rescue training was conducted.

Station maintenance was completed.

5:10 p.m. – Engine 28 responded to Woodward Reservoir for a Jet Ski accident. Escalon assisted with managing the landing zone for the helicopter.

5:14 p.m. – Water Rescue on the Stanislaus River. Water Rescue 29, Water Rescue 26, Engine 27 and Battalion Chief 5 responded. Subject was found unharmed with the assistance of Air 101.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 18

Just after midnight, fire crews responded to a commercial structure fire at the American Lumber Company on 9th Street in Modesto. Initially, one engine responded to an unknown type fire behind the business. Upon arrival, Engine 1 found smoke coming from a storage building at the rear of the business, then upgraded the incident. A second, then third alarm was requested, bringing a total of 12 engines, five ladder trucks, seven Chief Officers, and the Stanislaus Fire Investigation Unit to the scene. No injuries reported, the cause and origin are currently under investigation. Assistance provided by Modesto PD, Ceres, Stanislaus Consolidated, Ripon, Manteca, and Patterson Fire Departments.

 

THURSDAY, JUNE 17

5 p.m. – Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire in Riverbank. A single story residence was found upon arrival well involved in fire. Crews worked in the offensive mode to contain the fire.

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16

2:34 p.m. – Modesto crews responded along with Oak Valley Ambulance and the Stanislaus Sheriff for a reported drowning at Woodward Reservoir. Crews arrived on scene and deployed boats, jet skis, swimmers and a drone to search the area. The victim was located and pronounced deceased after a lengthy search and recovery.
