The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, June 21 through Monday, June 27. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, JUNE 27
Battalion 5 companies trained with CalFire TCU Engines 4490 and 4456 on auto extrication in Oakdale.
5:15 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27 and BC5 responded to a motorcycle accident outside Oakdale. Crews arrived to find a single patient down in the roadway and began initial patient care. The patient was transported from the scene in critical condition by ground ambulance to a local emergency room. CHP investigating.
6:54 p.m. – MST companies responded to a reported residential working structure fire in the 3700 block of Nevada Avenue in the City of Riverbank. Engine 26 arrived to find several outbuildings well-involved and threatening adjacent structures. Crews quickly contained the fire preventing any extension of fire. The fire is currently under investigation.
SUNDAY, JUNE 26
Crews trained on basement fires at the Regional Fire Training Center. Crews placed in service handlines and equipment needed to mitigate this type of incident.
5:43 p.m. – Modesto Engine 19, Grass 10, and BC3 were dispatched to a vegetation fire west of the Carpenter bridge on the north side of the Tuolumne River. Grass 10 and BC3 arrived on scene with a vegetation fire in the river bottom at approximately one acre. Grass 24, Grass 27, Water Tender 27, Brush 28, and Burbank Brush 36 assisted in mopping up the fire.
7:03 p.m. – Engine 29, Engine 26, CalFire Engine 4490 and BC5 responded to a medical aid for multiple subjects injured in an assault near the Knights Ferry Recreation area. Crews assisted with patient care and two patients were transported from the scene by ground ambulance to a local emergency room. Law enforcement investigating.
9:48 p.m. – MST units and CalFire TCU responded to a reported vegetation fire at Woodward Reservoir. First arriving units found a small fire contained by staff at the reservoir.
SATURDAY, JUNE 25
No time listed – Water rescue 28, Engine 27, Water rescue 29 and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department responded to Knights Ferry Recreation Area for overdue rafters. Boat 28 launched and began a search up river. The two overdue rafters were quickly found and assisted to shore.
Engine 28, Water tender 27, while on stand-by at the Rodeo Grounds for a fireworks display, were notified of a fire just east of the rodeo grounds location. The crew quickly accessed and extinguished the fire.
9:22 p.m. – B1, E9, G23/W23, B27/W27 and BC2 responded to a vegetation fire at Milnes and Santa Fe. On arrival crews located a 20 x 20 roadside vegetation fire. The fire was extinguished and crews were released a short time later.
FRIDAY, JUNE 24
6:30 p.m. – Engine 27, Brush 28, Grass 26, Grass 3, Water Tender 23 responded for the report of a field on fire in the city of Oakdale. On scene crews had an acre of grass on fire with a moderate rate of spread. E27 provided structure protection for houses that were in front of the fire. Brush 28 and Grass 26 extinguished the flanks. Fire was stopped at two acres with no damage to houses or outbuildings. Grass 3 and Water Tender 23 assisted with mop up.
TUESDAY, JUNE 21
Battalion 5 companies completed company level training.
12:26 p.m. – Brush 28, Grass/WT 27 and BC5 responded to a vegetation fire on Albers Road near Kemper. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. Engine 29 covered Fire Station 28 during the incident.
