Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 7-14-21

A fire reported shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Friday, July 9 saw Modesto, Ceres and Stanislaus units respond to Vantine Street in Knights Ferry. The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, July 6 through Monday, July 12. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

 

MONDAY, JULY 12

All stations and crews performed weekly maintenance and equipment checks

Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus Consolidated moved over to a new digitized radio frequency, utilizing Command 2 as the primary command frequency. The transition at the user level appeared to be seamless.

5:55 p.m. – Engines 27, 29, and Battalion 5 responded to a vehicle accident on Sonora Road involving two motorcycles. One patient was flown to an area hospital while one was transported via ground ambulance.

6:58 p.m. – Engines 26, 28, and Battalion 5 responded to a vehicle accident on Highway108/Crane Road involving a single vehicle rollover. One patient required extrication.

7:15 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus fire crews responded to a residential structure fire on Renee Drive. Crews arrived to find an exterior fire at the rear of an attached garage; smoke was seen coming from an attic vent. Crews checked the attic and structure; no extension was found. The smoke had drifted into the attic from the exterior fire. No injuries reported; cause appears to be accidental.

 

SUNDAY, JULY 11

Crews met today at Station 10 to train with probationary firefighters.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 10

3:41 p.m. – Modesto, Stanislaus Consolidated, Ceres, Hughson, Keyes, Burbank Paradise and Turlock City units responded to a vegetation fire on both sides of the Mitchell Bridge. Crews operated in 100-plus degree weather to contain the fire to approximately seven acres. Stanislaus FIU is investigating the incident.

9:23 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres and Stanislaus Consolidated units responded to the 1800 block of New Chesham Court for reports of a working structure fire. The fire involved a shed, fence and both electrical and gas utility meters. Crews knocked down the fire and held it in check until MID arrived to secure live arcing power lines. The fire extended up the exterior wall and required extensive overhaul to prevent further extension into the house. AMR provided standby as the temperatures were still elevated while crews were working. No injuries were reported. Stanislaus FIU is investigating the fire. Red Cross was called to assist the residents.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 9

5:11 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres and Stanislaus units responded to reports of a working residential structure on Vantine Street in Knights Ferry. Crews arrived on scene with an attached garage and vehicles on fire. The fire was quickly contained to the garage and vehicles. No injuries were reported. The Stanislaus FIU investigated the incident.

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 7

3:55 a.m. – Fire units responded to a vehicle accident on Terminal Avenue, near Riverbank. Two patients were transported to area hospitals.

EMS Quarterly Training was conducted at Station 17.

5:12 p.m. – Units from Modesto, Stanislaus Consolidated, Ceres and Cal Fire responded to reports of a working structure fire in the town of La Grange. Crews arrived on scene with two mobile homes fully involved, a two-acre vegetation fire and numerous additional structures threatened. A second alarm and third alarm equivalent was called bringing additional MCS units along with Denair and Hughson crews. A total of two mobile homes were destroyed along with numerous vehicles and outbuildings.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 6

Crews spent time working on rope skills with probationary firefighters today

6:14 p.m. – Fire crews responded to a water rescue in the area of Knights Ferry. Crews rescued two boaters and their kayaks just before sunset. No injuries reported.
