Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 8-25-21

Crews spent a couple of days putting out hot spots and doing clean-up work after a multi-alarm fire on Tuesday night, Aug. 17 charred about 17 acres in the Oakdale Rec Area off River and Liberini roads and also touched off a couple of river bottom fires near Walnut Avenue in the city. The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 17 through Monday, Aug. 23. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 23

Brush 1 remains assigned to Task Force XTB 4233C on the Caldor Fire. One Battalion Chief is assigned to the Cronan Fire, and a second Battalion Chief is assigned as a Task Force Leader assistant on the Caldor Fire on Task Force 4202C.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 22

Brush 1 is assigned to the Caldor Fire assigned to Branch 10, Division J in the Kyburz area.

One of our Battalion Chiefs is assigned to the Cronan Fire as a task force leader. The terrain is making it difficult for crews to access the fire and they continue to support hand crews and dozers operations as well as firing operations.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 21

FRIDAY, AUG. 20

Probationary firefighter testing was conducting at Fire Station 17.

Technical Rescue Team (Truck 1, Truck 5 and Squad 11) conducted monthly team training at Fire Station 4.

Battalion 5 crews continued to mop-up and patrol the River Incident inside the Oakdale Recreational Area.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 19

Probationary firefighter testing was conducted at Station 17.

Crews returned to the area of the vegetation fire in Oakdale to continue mop up of hot spots and evaluate safety issues.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 18

Brush-1 was sent out early in the morning as part of a strike team assigned to the Caldor Fire in El Dorado County. Crews are assigned to 24-hour shifts working on structure protection.

One Battalion Chief is assigned to the Cronan Fire as a task force leader. The terrain is making it difficult for crews to access the fire and they are supporting hand crews and dozer operations as well as firing operations.

Seven-month testing continued for probationary firefighters.

7 a.m. – Several companies continued to mop up and extinguish flare-ups at the previous night’s vegetation fire in Oakdale. Crews worked for several hours ensuring containment lines were in place and the fire lines were secure. Total acreage for the fire was 17 acres.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 17

Battalion Chief Serpa is assigned as a task force leader on the Cronan Fire working in Branch 1, Division H supporting fire line operations.

Brush 1 staffed with three personnel departed to the Placer County Fairgrounds this morning at 4:30 to stage for an assignment on one of the fires.

The Technical Rescue Team met to refresh on tower rescue skills.

Crews from Ceres stations met in Oakdale to get familiar with equipment based in that fire management area.

7:59 p.m. – Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire on River road in Oakdale. The fire jumped the river, scorching heavy fuels over approximately 10-12 acres. Crews remained on scene throughout the night mopping up and putting out hot spots.
