Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 9-1-21

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 24 through Monday, Aug. 30. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 30

4:58 a.m. – Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a residential structure fire on El Goya in Modesto. Crews arrived to find a single-story duplex with heavy black smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Fire crews worked in the offensive mode to quickly confine the fire to the rear of the structure then spent an additional hour providing overhaul and assisting with the fire investigation. No injuries reported; five adults and two dogs were displaced. The American Red Cross assisted the displaced residents. The Stanislaus Fire Investigation Unit was on scene conducting a cause and origin investigation.

8:22 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion Chief 5 responded to a vehicle accident on 28 Mile Road. Two patients were transported from the scene. CHP investigating.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 29

Modesto Fire Department personnel continue to serve on the Caldor Fire. TF 4202 is assigned to Branch 1, Division D improving lines from previous days. TF 4233C is on day 13 of their deployment. They were assigned to a 24-hour shift in Division J, which expanded into Meyers. Crews report that they had a busy shift supporting hose lays and dozer lines with a significant increase in spot fires. In addition, they were assigned to structure protection at the Strawberry General Store. Chief Ernst visited the crews and even assisted as a strike team leader for a period of time when crews were dispersed from their original strike team leader.

Crews trained today on tiller driving skills at the Regional Fire Training Center.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 28

MFD personnel continue to support multiple mutual aid fire incidents on task force and strike teams; TF 4202C was assigned to Branch 1, Division D in the Sly Park area on a 24-hour shift. XTB4233C is assigned to the Strawberry area off of Highway 50 on a 24-hour shift. All personnel are doing well.

 

FRIDAY, AUG. 27

Brush 1 remains assigned to Task Force XTB 4233C on the Caldor Fire. One Battalion Chief is assigned as a Task Force Leader assistant on the Caldor Fire on Task Force 4202C.

8:10 p.m. – Modesto Engines 27, 28, and Battalion 5 responded to a multi-vehicle accident with one trapped in the 12000 block of 26-Mile Road. Three patients were transported to area hospitals.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 26

Modesto Brush 1 remains assigned to the Caldor Fire. Crews are working 24-hour shifts working on Structure Protection in the area of Kyburz.

There is currently one Modesto Battalion Chief assigned as a Task Force Leader on the Caldor Fire.

2 p.m. – Modesto received an initial attack request from Cal Fire TCU for a vegetation fire threatening the community of Jamestown near Washington Road and Highway 108. Task Force 4203 consists of one Modesto Chief as the Task Force Leader; Modesto Brush 28, Brush 29, Grass 27, Water Tender 27, and Stanislaus Consolidated Brush 24. Crews were assigned to Division R in Branch II.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 25

Modesto Brush 1 remains assigned to the Caldor fire. Crews are working 24-hour shifts working on structure protection and triage in the community of Kyburz.

One Battalion Chief is assigned as a Task Force Leader at the Caldor Fire and is leading crews in the firefighting efforts.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 24

Modesto Brush 1 remains assigned to the Caldor fire. Crews are working 24-hour shifts working on structure protection and triage in the community of Kyburz.

Two Battalion Chiefs are assigned as task force leaders and are leading crews in the firefighting efforts.

Modesto E-28 assisted the Oakdale High School Fire Science ROP program with equipment and apparatus orientation.

8:30 a.m. – Truck 1, 5 and SQ11 conducted technical rescue training at the RFTC. Crews trained on tower rescue evolutions with crews climbing the tower and rescuing a live patient by bringing them down the tower to safety.
