Brenda Rodriguez, 17, died Tuesday, Nov. 30.

She was born in Yuriria, Mexico to Simon Rodriguez and Angelica (Reyes) Rodriguez of Michoacán, Mexico. She moved with her family to the United States when she was seven and the family has been a member of the Riverbank community for 40 years.

Brenda was a student in the 11th grade at Riverbank High School.

She was an active member in the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church of Riverbank as well as a member of the church's youth group where she enjoyed singing, dancing and performing for many church related functions.

She was known for her kind and giving ways, love of music and dance and for the joy in which she lived every day. Her enthusiasm for life and for people drew others to her. She had plans to complete high school and attend college with hopes of becoming a choreographer. She truly loved music and had her special favorite bands, her favorite was the "Cuisillos Band" from Mexico.

She is survived by her parents; siblings, Simon Jr., Lupita, Brian, and Johana; paternal grandparents, Abelino and Eufemia Rodriguez of Riverbank; maternal grandparents and additional family members of Michoacán, Mexico; and many additional family members that reside in Riverbank.

A special mass was held for her on Dec. 7 at St. Frances of Rome Church, Riverbank.

Visitation was held Dec. 8 at Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson. A graveside service was held Dec. 9 at Lakewood Memorial Park.
