Claire Marie Snow, 80 of Jacksonville, Fl. died Monday, Feb. 23 in Orange Park, Fl.

A native of Wolcott, Colo., she lived in San Andreas for 17 years and resided in Riverbank for more than 30 years prior to that. She was a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus. She was the founder and director of Lad 'n Lassie Children's Center, Riverbank, as well as a member of the Riverbank Elementary School Board of Directors for several years. Snow was active in the Riverbank Women's Club and organizer and director of Riverbank Melodrama and Variety Shows. She and her husband were the owners of Snow's Ranch Market, Escalon, for 27 years. She had a number of talents and hobbies including art, painting, reading, cooking, canning, gardening and making and dressing porcelain dolls. Oct. 19, 1986 was declared 'Claire Snow Day' in Riverbank, as a way to cite her many accomplishments.

She is survived by her children, Karen Grieninger of Jacksonville, Fl., Eric Snow of Willamina, Ore. and Marcia Wilson of San Andreas; 20 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Heward Walker and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, John "Hank" Snow and foster son Calvin Snow.

The Snows were foster parents to over 90 children, many of whom took the Snow name, those children are: V. Jean Massey of Oklahoma, Ruby Taylor of Sutter Creek, Maudie Davis of Texas, Georgia Martin of Bakersfield, Robert Snow of Mississippi, Sandi Snow of North Carolina, Sally May of Rohnert Park, Marie Wild of Modesto and Susan LeDoux of Louisiana.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, Riverbank.
