Daryl Willey, 78, of Sonora, California, passed away peacefully on October 1. He was born on December 15, 1946, in Oakdale, California.
Daryl graduated from Oakdale High School in 1964 and went on to earn his degree from Cal Poly in 1970. He served as the Building Official for the City of Modesto for over 30 years and also shared his expertise as an instructor at MJC. Following his retirement from the city, he remained active in the building industry for another 20 years.
Daryl was married to his beloved wife, Kathie, for 57 years. He is survived by Kathie, their daughters Laurel Willey and Teresa (JJ) Hurley of Sonora, and his cherished granddaughter, Brynn Hurley. He also leaves behind two brothers, Dean Willey of Russellville, Arkansas, and Robert (Cathy)Willey of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Beyond his career, Daryl had many passions. He enjoyed antique cars, football, music, and local history. His greatest joy, however, was time spent with his granddaughter, Brynn.
A memorial service will be held October 25 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sonora, CA at 19985 Greenley Road.
