Donald W. Bauer, 86, of Oakdale died Saturday, Jan. 29 at Oak Valley Care Center.

A native of Lodi, Mr. Bauer was a turkey rancher in Sonora for many years and a truck driver for A.L. Gilbert Feed Co. for 35 years. He was a veteran of WWII and served his country overseas in England, France and Germany.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gladys Bauer of Oakdale; three children and their spouses, John and Jackie Bauer of Sonora, Jimmy and Debbie Bauer of Milton, Susan and Clinton Gilbreath of Lodi; stepsister Deane Burch of Sacramento; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and was an avid 49er fan. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and helping other people.

He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Oakdale.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be Thursday at 9 a.m., immediately before the service.

Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
