FRANK MONSCHEIN obit

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Monschein, who left us on April 26, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 5, 1933, in Furstenfeld, Austria, Frank’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love for family.

At the age of 17 he left Austria and immigrated to Switzerland. Frank emigrated from Switzerland to the United States in 1959, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. In 1964, he founded Monschein Cabinets, a business that not only reflected his craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit but also became a cornerstone of the community.

In 1958, Frank married Flora (deceased) in Switzerland. At that time, Flora had a four-year-old daughter Christine. Later, Frank and Flora welcomed their son, Mike, in 1960.

In May 1983, Frank married Naomi, with four children. Together, they built a family filled with love and joy. Frank was the proud father of six children, a grandfather to 12, and a great-grandfather to 19. His legacy lives on through his loving family and the many lives he touched through his work and kindness.

Frank Monschein will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his remarkable contribution to the cabinet-making industry, and his warm and generous spirit. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him.

Frank was deeply engaged in the manufacturing industry, serving on numerous national boards. He held the position of president at Riverbank Rotary and was a distinguished Paul Harris member. Frank played a pivotal role in establishing a student exchange program between Riverbank, CA, and his hometown of Furstenfeld, Austria. He believed fervently in offering students the chance to learn a trade. Many of these students from Riverbank High School have remained with the company for over 40 years, a testament to his dedication to education and mentorship.

Frank was always happy to share his hometown of Furstenfeld Austria with family and friends. Nearly all the grandchildren were able to travel with their Papa Frank and Grandma Naomi to Austria. Frank had the joy of sharing his hometown with many friends and fellow Rotarians.

Frank retired from Monschein Industries upon reaching his 80th birthday. Under the competent leadership of his daughter-in-law Karen, the cabinet company has experienced significant growth and success.

Frank found much joy in various activities throughout his life. He cherished boating and windsurfing on the San Joaquin Delta and was an avid snow skier and fisherman, reveling in the serenity of rivers and lakes. Golf held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in playing with friends at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club.

Frank and Naomi greatly enjoyed traveling the world together. They had the opportunity to explore many destinations, including experiencing the many wonders of the world. Frank particularly appreciated visiting Mexico every year.

Frank was happiest when he was hosting gatherings at our home. He had a natural talent for bringing people together and creating a warm, festive atmosphere. Whether it was a casual get-together after golfing or a grand celebration, he delighted in planning every detail, from the food and drinks to the entertainment and décor. Frank’s joy was infectious, and his guests always felt welcomed and cherished. His passion for entertaining reflected his generous spirit and his love for creating lasting memories with family and friends.

At Christmas, he was eager to set up the tree with real candles and decorate the outdoors with lights. Our family and friends cherished Santa Claus night, enjoying food, entertainment, and Santa’s arrival as if by sleigh. Many friends donned the Santa suit, and one provided fireworks to end the evening. Frank always closed the night with everyone singing “Silent Night” as he lit the candles on the tree.

If you ask Frank how he is today his answer was always, “I am happy”. Frank was a genuinely happy person.

Frank is survived by his wife Naomi, son Michael Monschein, (Karen), daughters Christine Webb, (Ken), Leisa Elliott, Laurie Jardine, (Denny), Jennifer Smither, (Stan). His grandchildren are Kristy Monschein, Amanda Monschein, Nick Webb, Catrina Moll, Bryce Jardine, Cody Wyatt, Chelsie Anderson, Hunter Peters, Colton Jardine, Keldon Jardine, Keaton Smither, and Spencer Smither.
