Gailard Wayne 'Gay' Horney, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 1.

He was born in Iowa to Claude and Vera Horney in 1919.

He enjoyed traveling, gardening, raising rare breeds of chickens, and was a member of numerous square dance clubs.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Riverbank.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Horney; son, Gaylord Horney of Riverbank; daughter, LeeAnn Dubois of Colorado; sister, Virginia Cason of Modesto; stepchildren, Larry Yeakel and Carol Goldsmith, both of Turlock; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Horney.

Visitation was held at Allen Mortuary on Sept. 6. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.
