George Overby passed away on November 17, 2022, at his home in Oakdale, CA with his beloved wife Jean of 45 years by his side. Snow skiing, fishing, football and reading were George’s favorite pastimes.

George was proud to be a Veteran with service in the Army 1951 – 1953, and was awarded a United Nations Service Medal, Korea service medal with two bronze stars and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a life member of the American Legion. Following his military service George graduated from San Jose State in 1960 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering until his retirement in 1992.

There will be a funeral Mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale on December 2 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Inurnment will be at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella on December 5 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice, Inc., 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356 in which the family is grateful for their kind and compassionate care.
