Born and raised in Columbia City, Indiana to Lewis and Hazel Rathbun, Glen relocated to California and ended up settling in Oakdale around 1960. He worked for local businesses doing body work and eventually established a pheasant hunting club and bar and restaurant, formally known as Black Hills Resort, but also known as the Fishout or Sluggo’s, off Highway 4 between Eugene and Milton. He owned and operated that business for nearly two decades. He later successfully owned a mobile pressure washing business and in his retired years, was a handyman for local real estate agents. Sluggo was a member and past President of the Oakdale Sportsmen’s Club.
Glen leaves behind his three children, Glen, Karen, and Judy along with five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ruth in Michigan, and Grace in Indiana along with many nieces and nephews. He deeply loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, and wife Rosalind lovingly known as Peggy.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at Modesto Citizens Cemetery on Scenic Drive in Modesto with a reception to follow at Oakdale Sportsmen’s Club in Oakdale.
