Gordon James Rose was born November 1942 in Hayward CA., and became a 48-year resident of Oakdale, CA. Gordon went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2021, with his daughter Lisa Rose holding his hand and brother George Rose present.
In 1961, Gordon married his teenage sweetheart Mary Rose and together they raised four daughters. In 1974, they boldly moved their family from San Leandro CA to a newly purchased ranch in Oakdale, and over the years launched several successful businesses including: The House of Beef, Gordon’s Wholesale Meats, Sheer Elegance Boutique & Salon, and finally, Superior Meats. They were successful entrepreneurs, very proud, and extremely hard-working.
Gordon was larger than life. In addition to his entrepreneurial spirit, he was a fiercely independent thinker. He loved his large family and they loved him back. He was adventurous and had a passion for classic cars and proudly owned a few. Gordon loved both to hear a good story and to tell one. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a take-no prisoners card and dice player. He adored gathering around a table to share fine food and wine with family and friends. Gordon was known for his sharp sense of style and beautiful cowboy boots. His generosity of spirit was boundless, and he was always happy to lend a hand to those in need.
Gordon will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, and deep well of generosity. He will always be loved, cherished, and missed by family and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
Later in life, on January 7, 2000, Gordon would marry Julia Zemlyanskaya and became the stepfather to a beautiful little girl, Valerie E Zemlyanskaya.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Rose, Violet Machado-Rose; his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Davis; brother-in-law, Norman Davis; and previous wife, Julia Zemlyanskaya-Rose.
Gordon is survived by his favorite brother, George Rose; sister-in-law, Phyllis Rose; sister, Marlene Mowrey; and brother-in-law, Ovid Mowrey.
