Helen Berniece Fitzpatrick, 89, died Wednesday, June 20 after a long battle with heart disease.

She was born to Amanda and Chester Hunt in Grovel Hill, Ark. She moved with her family to Carlsbad, N.M. when she was one month old. She lived all her young life in Carlsbad, where she met the love of her life, Lev P. Fitzpatrick.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick lived a long and fruitful life full of love, hard work, and happiness. She was a wonderful wife, mother, cook, and homemaker. Her family was her pride and joy. She will be missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Thorpe of Oakdale; sons, Patrick (Kathleen) Fitzpatrick of Lodi, Ted (Debi) Fitzpatrick of Carson City, Nev.; four granddaughters; four grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lev; her parents; and brother, Ulyess Hunt.

The family thanks Dr. Robert Lynch for his care and Oak Valley Care Center staff for their compassion and kindness.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, S.D. 57326.
