Howard Franklin Tigert was born on August 14, 1949 in Firebaugh, CA to James and Freda (Price) Tigert as the fourth of six children. He passed away on December 23, 2021 at Bethel Assistant Living in Modesto, CA.
Howard lived in Firebaugh until the age of six when the family moved to Riverbank, CA. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1967. In February 1968 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Helicopter Mechanic, Crew Chief, and Platoon Leader in the Vietnam War where he earned several military awards.
In 1975 Howard met the love of his life, Pamela, where the two quickly became inseparable. They were married in 1980 and again in 1985. He worked for several years at Blue Diamond. Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, playing cards, and wearing his Yankees cap. One of his favorite things to do was taking the kids to Kennedy Meadows to camp and trout fish for the weekend.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, James and Freda Tigert and brothers Melvin and Danny Tigert.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Tigert; children, Trina Riley (John), Howard Tigert (Katie), Jennifer Bernaciak (David), Lynette Tigert, and Veronica Tigert; grandchildren, Drew and Kayla Raley, Emma, Carter and Claire Tigert and Olivia Bernaciak; brothers, Darryl and Dwayne Tigert and sister Connie Vallo; along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will begin with the viewing at 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 and funeral services beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Riverbank Memorial Chapel in Riverbank, CA. Burial will follow the services at Burwood Cemetery 28320 E. River Road, Escalon.
