James Lavernon Over, 73, of Riverbank died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Two of his children, Donovan and Audrina, were by his side when he passed.

He was born Jan. 21, 1941 in Oakdale. He attended Oakdale High School, Class of 1959, and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 in Germany. He was a long haul truck driver and worked in construction for many years.

Survivors include his three children, Donovan, Audrina and Joanna; and his sister Louise (Biggs) Cruse of Chandler, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ethel (Biggs) Over; four brothers, Luther Biggs, Lawrence Biggs, Raymond Biggs, Leonard Biggs; and three sisters, Lagretta (Biggs) Jones, Rose (Biggs) McCormack and Edith (Biggs) Lamica.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
